Art gives a home character and is a very personal choice. The piece abovewas created by my daughter Ellen, who is an artist. This was given to ma as a Christmas gift so it has many different levels of visual and emotional impact for me.
The portrait has elements of abstract creativity, colour and a wonderful quirkiness that I enjoy not only because of who made it and what it represents, but because of the style of picture she has produced and how it suits the interior of my home.
Art can take on many forms and taste will always be a matter of personal preference. Each individual will see things that they like and enjoy and other works that are not as popular to them personally.
When you are working with an interior designer you need to have confidence that your views are being listen to and that you have a designer who will observe your style and present you with ideas and schemes that will suit the home that you live in.
Art doesn’t need to be expensive, a well framed print, a newspaper clipping about something personal to you that is framed, architectural drawings cut from an old book and mounted, or even saved ticket stubs from football matches could be arranged in a collage, so long as it creates an environment that reflects who you are.
